Welcome to my Costa Rica page.
I was in Costa Rica in 2013 (my first trip to CR) with a small group of my former and current students to attend the International Bat Research Conference/North American Symposium on Bat Research. It was held in San Jose, Costa Rica from August 11-15, 2013 and for several days prior and several days after, we were able to explore CR on several bat excursions. And man, were those amazing places! We visited Tortuguera National Park, Sarapiqui/La Selva, Monteverde, and Poas Volcanic National Park during those pre- and post-trips. I kept a blog of the trip – you can check it out by hovering over the Costa Rica tab and clicking on the blog tab to the right or you can go here: https://bassariscus.me/places/costa-rica/costa-rica-2013-blog/
FOR 2015:
Well, it’s been done…we have a trip planned and priced for a group to go explore multiple locations in Costa Rica to see wildlife and some remarkable places. The trip will be in 2015 from Wednesday July 22 through Sunday August 2. Your intrepid leaders are David Wyatt (me) and reptile and amphibian expert Michael Starkey. Our destinations include the places visited in 2013: Tortuguera National Park, Sarapiqui/La Selva, Monteverde, and Poas Volcanic National Park, as well as two new places: La Fortuna/Arenal National Park and Carara National Park (Herradura). For more information about the trip, you can go to the 2015 tab under the Costa Rica section of this webpage or by going here: https://bassariscus.me/places/costa-rica/2015-costa-rica/
